How can Physiotherapy help?

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.

Physiotherapy can help conditions such as aches and pains (general), arthritic pain, backache, back pain, circulatory problems, cramp, joint pains, lumbago, muscle spasms, neuralgia and minor sports injuries.

Our Physiotherapists work on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Joanne can do home visits if needed and is highly qualified in traditional Physiotherapy as well as being a Neuro Physio and also able to do wheel chair assessments.

All our Physiotherapists are registered with the Health Professions Council.

Rehabilitation

Consultation

At your first physiotherapy appointment, you’ll complete a short medical history form. Your physiotherapist will then ask targeted questions about your condition — what brings it on, what eases it, how long you’ve had it, and how it affects your daily life. This helps confirm that physiotherapy is the right approach and begins to shape your personalised treatment plan.

Examination

After the consultation, a physical examination assesses your posture, movement range, muscle strength, and neurological function where relevant. Your physiotherapist will explain what they find and outline a treatment plan before any treatment begins. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions at every stage.

Treatment

Physiotherapy treatment at Attend2Health is tailored to your diagnosis and personal goals. It may include:

  • Manual therapy — hands-on joint mobilisation and soft tissue work to reduce pain and restore movement

  • Exercise rehabilitation — personalised programmes using body weight, resistance bands, a wobble board, or weights

  • Ultrasound therapy — used for soft tissue injuries to reduce inflammation and support healing

  • Neurological rehabilitation — specialist exercises and movement retraining for patients with stroke, Parkinson’s, MS, or spinal cord injuries

  • Home visit physiotherapy — Joanne offers home visits for patients who cannot travel to the clinic

  • Seated exercise classes — suitable for elderly patients or those with limited mobility

For conditions like lower back pain, a common pathway is to begin with chiropractic care to address the structural problem, then transition to physiotherapy for rehabilitation and prevention. Your team at Attend2Health will coordinate this across disciplines.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a Physiotherapist different to a Chiropractor or Osteopath?

Physiotherapists specialise in musculoskeletal conditions like Osteopaths and Chiropractors do but they also help with rehabilitation after an operation and are able to give specialised exercise plans for recovery.

At Attend2Health you are welcome to see a Physiotherapist straight away for aches and pains or with something like low back pain you might see a chiropractor for a couple of appointments and then progress to seeing a Physiotherapist for rehabilitation.

Our Physiotherapist Joanne is able to offer home visits or seated exercise classes as well.

Do you offer home visits for Physiotherapy?

Yes. Joanne Willett offers home visits for patients who cannot travel to the Buntingford clinic. She also offers seated exercise classes for elderly or mobility-limited patients. Please call 01763 87 80 87 to arrange.

What is a Neurological Physiotherapist?

Our Physiotherapist Joanne is a neurophysiotherapist who is able to assess and treat individuals with movement and function disorders originating from damage to the central nervous system.

They work to improve, regain, or maintain physical independence, targeting conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s disease, MS, and spinal cord injuries.

Joanne can also carry out wheelchair assessments.

Do you have male and female Physiotherapists?

At Attend2health we have two female physiotherapists Joanne and Annette and a male Physiotherapist Ian.

Joanne works on a Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with home visits on other days.

Annette works on a Thursday and Ian works on a Friday.
